Jordan Spieth Off to Rough 2016 Start

Dennis DeMarino is the business administrator and board secretary at Woodbridge Township School District in Woodbridge, New Jersey. In addition to other leisure activities, Dennis DeMarino is an avid golfer and follows the PGA.

Golfer Jordan Spieth had a magical 2015 that saw him win two major championships and tie for second and fourth places in the other two. He also earned a hefty $31 million, according to FTW Golf. This year, however, Spieth is sputtering a bit out of the gate.

After finishing tied for 21st at a recent Pebble Beach event, Spieth posted an eight-over 79 at the first round of the Northern Trust Open that tied for the worst score of the round. When he spoke with Golf Digest, Spieth attributed some of his poor putting to the differences in the grass between the Pebble Beach course and Riviera.

If the Jordan Spieth of a year ago seemed superhuman, this year's version appears to be very much mortal to start off the season. Fortunately, he still has plenty of time to get things right before the prestigious Masters tournament in April.
